esign Notes: Contemporary and Asian, this kitchen combines feng shui principles with modern materials. Red-stained maple cabinetry complements the homeowner’s selected cherry blossom theme. A custom mosaic tile backsplash over the cooktop features a blossoming branch profiled against a rising sun. Another custom detail, wooden cabinet doors carved with the Chinese symbol for prosperity, graces the kitchen’s baking wall.
